Club volleyball is not like other sports.
Sharks Volleyball is looking to provide assistance to parents and guidance to athletes on how they can position themselves to make a club team.
Purchase a PackageWe cannot promise selection. We can help your athlete arrive ready.
Sharks prepares your athlete. Clubs make every selection decision.
Independent of club selection
Clubs retain complete control of their trials, offers, team placement and selection decisions.
Athlete-specific guidance
Our expert coaches assess the athlete’s experience, position and goals to recommend clubs that may be suitable.
Clear, structured support
Each package follows a defined pathway, with its inclusions and level of support made clear before purchase.
Why play club volleyball?
Did you know Queensland has more than 40 volleyball clubs? Each offers a different environment, pathway and level of competition. We help families explore their options, identify clubs that fit the athlete’s goals and prepare confidently for a competitive trial process.
Match Experience
Club volleyball gives regular opportunities to play organised matches and put training into practice. Match play helps with skill execution and decision-making under real game pressure.
Game Awareness
Playing in a consistent team helps build understanding of positions, rotations and responsibilities. Over time, this develops stronger game awareness, communication and decision-making on court.
Transferable Skills
Skills developed through club volleyball can strengthen performance at school and in other training environments. Repeating and applying those skills in different situations helps build greater adaptability on court.
Confidence
Competitive training and match play provide meaningful challenges to work through. With experience, this can build confidence in skills, decisions and the ability to respond after mistakes.
Team Connection
Club volleyball creates opportunities to connect with teammates who share an interest in the sport. Being part of a consistent team can build a strong sense of belonging and friendships that last beyond the season.
At some clubs last season, more than 120 athletes trialled for only 20 available team positions. Trialing for a club can be competitive but we can help to make it easier.
Prepare your athlete for what club coaches are looking for.
We’ve collected direct feedback from PVL coaches and club representatives on what they actually look for at trials. We use that insight to shape how your athlete prepares.
We turn those insights into practical training and mentoring, helping your athlete understand and practise the skills and behaviours assessed at trials.
Skills under pressure
Technical execution, movement and consistency when opportunities are limited.
How your athlete presents
Communication, confidence, teamwork and court presence.
How your athlete responds
Coachability, body language and recovery after mistakes.
Parent clarity, athlete readiness.
Club Pathways supports both of you: clearer decisions for your family and purposeful preparation for your athlete.
Remove avoidable guesswork.
Understand the club pathway, compare what’s included and choose the support that best fits your athlete and family.
Arrive ready to prove what you can do.
Understand what coaches commonly assess, train with purpose and use practical feedback to build your confidence before trials.
Know what comes next. Prepare with purpose.
Club selection can feel confusing. We turn uncertainty into clear next steps, with more individual preparation, feedback and support at every level.
Consult
Your journey starts with an athlete-specific consultation focused on your athlete’s experience, goals, the clubs they are considering and what they want from club volleyball.
Plan
We identify the next steps your athlete needs. With Preparation or Performance, your plan also includes athlete-specific club recommendations, preparation and training priorities, and a personalised brief.
Understand
At the Club Information Event you’ll learn how club pathways, divisions, trials, offers and selection generally work, so your family knows what to expect.
Prepare
Depending on your package, preparation may include training, coaching, observation or mentoring. We share practical insights about your athlete’s play and where to focus before trials.
Deliver
Your athlete puts their preparation into action at trials, while clubs make every selection decision. Afterwards, your included offer review or post-trial support helps your family decide what comes next.
Join the Club Information Event live each December. If you purchase later, your family receives the yearly recording privately.
Choose support that fits your athlete’s preparation needs.
Every package starts with an athlete-specific consultation and includes the Club Information Event. You choose how much individual strategy, training, feedback and trial support your athlete receives.
Limited spots are available for this program.

-
Initial athlete-specific consultation
Meet one-to-one with your Club Liaison to discuss your athlete’s goals, experience, likely role, club interests and your family’s practical needs. It establishes a clear starting direction.
-
Club Information Event
A live education session for athletes and parents covering how the youth club pathway works, what families can generally expect from trials and offers, and the practical commitments involved. It provides shared education—not an individual club recommendation or any guarantee of selection.
-
Broad Club Landscape Snapshot
By analysing club structures, team entries, results and player participation across previous seasons, the Club Landscape Document helps us recommend the types of club environments that may best match what your athlete wants—whether that is greater competitive challenge, a more realistic opportunity for court time, or a balance of both. It replaces guesswork with a wide, evidence-informed view, helping families focus on the opportunities most worth exploring.
-
Practical next-step guidance
Receive clear help interpreting the Snapshot, understanding common terms, identifying what to investigate, and knowing which questions and practical matters to consider. It provides broad direction, not a personalised club shortlist, trial-readiness assessment or ongoing case management.
-
Post-trial check-in and next steps
A timely check-in during your athlete’s outcome and offer window captures the result, any genuine offer and response deadline, then your family will receive the appropriate next steps.

-
Trial Readiness Observation and Written Review
During an existing WJS or Sharks Camp session, a Club Pathways Assessor observes how your athlete presents in a real group-training environment using a structured rubric. You receive a written review of strengths, development areas and final focus points. This helps parents and athletes know what to focus on when trial days really come around.
-
Professional Athlete Mentoring
An online mentoring conversation with a professional athlete explores preparation habits, confidence, communication, coachability, pressure, setbacks and positive team contribution. The athlete has the opportunity to ask questions and reflect on the experience of someone who has been in their position and played at the highest level.
-
Final pre-trial consultation
Before club trials, your Club Liaison brings together your athlete’s training, private-session work, observation feedback, mentor insights, and practical arrangements into clear final focus points.
-
Priority personalised offer review, if required
If your athlete receives a genuine club offer, your family receives priority help to review its practical implications while decisions are time-sensitive.
-
Priority post-trial support
Across the trial, offer and outcome window, your family receives prioritised follow-up, offer-deadline prompts and support to review outcomes and next steps.
-
Total of 32 hours of on court training included
One WJS term, one Sharks Camp and two Private Sessions combine to provide 32 hours of on-court training. This gives your athlete both repeated group training and individual coaching before trials.

Your questions, answered before you choose.
Does Club Pathways guarantee your athlete will make a club team?
No. Club Pathways gives you education, preparation and decision support, but it cannot guarantee any outcome. Each club retains every selection decision, including division, position, playing time, vacancy and team placement.
Does Sharks Volleyball operate club teams?
No. Sharks is a volleyball training and athlete-development organisation, not a club. Club Pathways helps you explore existing clubs; Sharks does not operate club teams or make club-selection decisions.
How does the Package Finder recommend a package for you?
It uses your answers to estimate the level of education, individual guidance, training and feedback your family wants. It does not assess your athlete’s talent, predict selection or limit which package you can choose.
Which package is recommended if your athlete is trialling for the first time?
Preparation is our core recommendation for first-time trial athletes. You receive the Personalised Club Recommendations & Preparation Brief, included training, one Private Session and live support through the outcome stage. If you only need education, Guidance may be enough.
What if you already know which club your athlete wants to trial for?
A preferred club is a useful starting point, but your best-fit package depends on the level of support you want. You may still want help deciding how your athlete should prepare, comparing alternatives and responding to an offer or outcome.
What happens if you purchase after the live Information Event?
If you purchase later, you’ll receive the yearly recording privately. It is not published as a public recording.
Can you add training to the Guidance Package?
Yes. You can add WJS for $299, Sharks Camp for $399, one Private Session for $175 or two Private Sessions for $240, including GST. Availability and registration requirements still apply.
What if your athlete receives more than one genuine offer?
With Preparation, you can access one personalised offer-comparison review if required. Performance includes priority personalised support. Guidance does not include personalised offer comparison.
What if club information or trial dates change?
We use current official information, club-supplied details and internal research where available. Because clubs may change trial dates, structures, divisions and offer timing, you remain responsible for confirming final details directly with each club.
Can you upgrade after purchasing?
You can speak with our management team about practical upgrade options. Upgrades, credits and package changes are not automatic; they depend on timing, entitlements already used and current availability.
Know what to expect. Prepare with purpose. Approach trials ready.
Choose the support your athlete needs—and the level of guidance, training and feedback that works for your family.
Club Pathways strengthens your athlete’s preparation. It does not guarantee selection, division, position, playing time, vacancy or any club outcome.
